Elastic Search and Magento Commerce 2.4

December 9, 2020
Elastic Search

Elastic Search is the most powerful search mechanism available. (Wiki)

Elastic Search was first developed in 2010 and is an open source application that has been built using Java technology.

Elasticsearch is a distributed, RESTful search and analytics engine capable of addressing a growing number of use cases. As the heart of the Elastic Stack, it centrally stores your data for lightning fast search, fine‑tuned relevancy, and powerful analytics that scale with ease.

Elastic Search is on our Centos 8, Alma and CloudLinux+ servers.

Magento Commerce

The Magento Commerce, latest version of 2.4, requires the Elastic Search mechanism to operate. This was the main reason for the Elastic Search installation on our servers. Prior versions of Magento Commerce used antiquated search methodology. If you have a shopping cart with many products, then you already know how important the search function and results are. Despite the fact that Magento requires Elastic Search to operate, by installing it we have been able to support other scripts running on our servers for example Xenforo Forums. If you already have a Magento shopping cart setup at dev2host and wish to upgrade and take advantage of Elastic Search, then documentation can be found here. If you are hosting your Magento cart with us and need help upgrading or implementing Elastic Search open a support ticket if you need help. we can also help with custom ES scripts.

Programming languages supported include:

PHP
JAVA
NODE.js
RUBY
PYTHON
PERL

How fast is Elastic search?

Its extremely fast!
